2025 World Police & Fire Games: Fun & Games For Some, A Second Chance For Others

The World Police & Fire Games will begin on June 7 in Birmingham, AL.
As expected, athletes from all over the world are set to descend on the city with the largest cast-iron statue in the world, Vulcan.
For one athlete participating in the World Police & Fire Games, the Games are no "Game" at all, but rather a second chance at a dream.
Ualikhan Adai will be traveling from his home country of Kazakhstan to compete in the 2025 World Games....with hopes of gaining momentum to launch him back into his professional career.
In 2020 Adai was steadily building momentum in his professional career, even gaining interests from promotional companies such as Top Rank. Then Covid happened.
I was able to spend some time with him and ask him a few questions about his upcoming plans.
Question: How did you become interested in boxing?
Answer: My father got me interested in boxing, and Kazakhs consider boxing to be the number one sport here.
Question: What age did you start boxing?
Answer: My father sent me to a boxing club when I was 9 years old, coached by Akylbek Temirov.
Question: How would you describe your fighting style?
Answer: In amateur boxing, I was as jumpy as Muhammad Ali, and as intellectual as Roy Jones.
Question: Who are some of your favorite fighters?
Answer: Kostya Tsyzu.
Question: What weight do fight at now?
Answer: 92 KG+ (202.825 pounds and up)
Question: When did you become a professional boxer?
Answer: 2018.
Why did you stop boxing professionally?
Answer: My last fight was in 2020, then Covid happened, in 2021 I opened my own boxing school and worked with these kids. I didn’t have time to train myself!

Question: What made you become a firefighter?
Answer: I watched a lot of Western movies where firefighters save people all the time, and they have adventurous lives!
Question: How did you hear about the World Police & Fire Games in Alabama?
Answer: The World Games were held in Rotterdam (Europe) in 2022. I first heard about it then, but I couldn’t attend myself. Then this year, my brothers Talgat and Kairat suggested that I go to these games.
Question: What are your goals after competing in the World Police & Fire Games?
Answer: After these world games, I would like to fight in professional boxing in America. Of course, for that I need to prepare for at least 3 months in America, because I currently don’t have time to train in Kazakhstan, I work in 2 countries.
Question: What excites you the most about visiting Alabama?
Answer: I’ve seen a lot of American movies, but I haven’t heard much about Alabama, but I’m currently searching a lot on YouTube!
