Birmingham Gears Up For 2025 World Police & Fire Games

If you're in the Birmingham, Alabama area and see a large group of men or women in firefighter or police gear in your local gym, do not be alarmed; There's a good chance they are training for the 2025 World & Police Fire Games.


Fresh off of being hosted in Winnipeg, Canada in 2023, The WPFG will make it's way down South to Birmingham, AL from June 27 - July 6.


In less than a month Birmingham is expected to host over 8,500 athletes, from over 70 countries, to compete in 60+ sports.


The opening ceremony is scheduled for Friday, June 27, 2025 at Legacy Arena.

Per the BHM 2025 WPFG Athlete Entry Book:


"Begin the Birmingham 2025 World Police & Fire Games by being part of the world’s largest celebration of international police and fire athletes! Immerse yourself in the cherished traditions of the Parade of Athletes, the Raising of the Flag, and the Lighting of the Cauldron. Experience a vibrant display of locally inspired programming. After the ceremony, all credentialed athletes, along with their family and friends, are invited to continue the festivities at the grand opening of Athletes Village. It It is a short walk from Legacy Arena and will open at the conclusion of the Opening Ceremony."


The closing ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, July 6, 2025 at Legacy Arena at the Citywalk.

"Celebrate the conclusion of the Birmingham 2025 World Police & Fire Games at the Closing

Ceremonies, hosted at City Walk—the heart of Athletes Village. The evening will feature the ceremonial Passing of the Flag to the next host city, Perth 2027. Engage in the camaraderie of pin, patch, and challenge coin trading as we commemorate the incredible memories made in Birmingham. Enjoy local entertainment, a recap video highlighting the best moments of the Games, and a final celebration. Parking in the area is available for $20.00 per car. Please allow for travel time based on your drive or ride time into the downtown area."
